Enemies, Betrayal, and a Romance to Die For – Why You NEED to Read Powerless & Reckless by Lauren Roberts

I love when a book sweeps me off my feet, but Powerless didn’t just sweep me—it threw me into a whirlwind of emotions. And then Reckless came along and absolutely wrecked me in the best way possible. If you love enemies-to-lovers, high-stakes competition, and an explosive romance, this is your next obsession.

Powerless (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5)

Lauren Roberts’ debut throws us into a world where power is everything. Paedyn Gray is a “powerless” girl in a kingdom ruled by the gifted. She’s been surviving in the shadows until one reckless decision lands her in the deadly Purging Trials, where only the strongest survive.

Kai Azer—the cocky, ruthless, and devastatingly charming prince. Their chemistry? Undeniable. The tension? Palpable. I was hooked from the first page, and the mix of survival, deception, and romance kept me up all night.

Reckless (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 – Yes, that’s a 6-star rating!)

If Powerless was a storm, Reckless was a full-on hurricane. It raised the stakes, deepened the romance, and shattered my soul multiple times. We see Paedyn and Kai fight for survival, freedom, and each other in ways that felt so raw and real. The slow burn? The angst? The betrayals? Perfection. And the way the symbol of the cover (poppy flowers) appears in this book is absolutely beautiful.

Lauren Roberts absolutely outdid herself with this book. The action scenes had my heart racing, the romance had me screaming into my pillow, and the emotional moments hit deep, especially the ones including other people the main characters loved (Adena, Ava, Pae’s father).

Counting Down to Fearless!!!

Now, I’m impatiently waiting for Fearless, coming April 8th, and I NEED ANSWERS. Will Paedyn and Kai finally find peace? What other twists does Lauren Roberts have in store for us? If it’s anything like the first two, I’m preparing to be emotionally destroyed again.

Have you read Powerless and Reckless? Let’s talk in the comments! And if you haven’t—whaaaat are you waiting for?!

Happy reading,

Bea🩷
